Teacher: “OK, does anybody want to share anything. Remember, this is the time that we talk about “real” things.”
Child: “In 75 days, I am going to college.”
Teacher: “Really? Where are you going?”
Child: “To Harvard”
Teacher: “What are you going to learn about?”
Child: “The Letter Pp”
Teacher: “Hhmmm…really? Where is Harvard?”
Child: “In South America!”
This week we focused on the letter L, and our letter pal, Larry Lion. We created friendly and grouchy ladybugs to go with the story “The Grouchy Ladybug” by Eric Carle. We stamped legos on a large L. We sorted and graphed ladybugs, based on the number of spots on their backs. We also made handprint lambs in paint. We also tied our letter study to our math unit on opposites, sorting pictures of items that are little and large.
Last Friday, to end our study of winter, we celebrated White Day. We ice-skated in the classroom, using wax paper under our shoes! Ms. Castillo made cute and yummy snowman faces for snack, and we really enjoyed our paper “snowbal” fight! We threw snowballs at each other, and Mrs. Newgard and Ms. Castillo! We topped it off with Show-n-Tell, featuring white items brought from home. Great week Bumblebees!
One of my little girls in my class said the same thing at the same time as me. So I explained the “Jinx you owe me a Coke” game. Another little girl got a smile on her face and said, “Oh, yah, me and my brother play that game except we say “Quit talking or I’ll pinch you.”
